Why does the bat speed vary when swinging at a pitched ball versus off a tee?

Last Updated -

Bat speed will vary for almost all batters when swinging at a ball that is pitched in comparison to one that is hit from a tee. This is because when a ball is placed on a tee, the batter can focus all of their energy on their bat speed. When a batter is swinging at a ball that is pitched, a player must also focus on aiming the bat. This use of coordination will slow their bat speed measurement.
