Ball Speed Potential
Last Updated -
Ball Speed Potential is NOT actual ball speed. It is a prediction of ball speed based on your racket speed and assume perfect conditions. This metric gives you an idea, based on your racket speed, of the kind of ball speed your serve can potentially generate.
The standard for male tennis professionals, average serve speed is 100-135 mph. For female tennis professionals, average racket speed is around 80-105 mph.
Tips for improving Ball Speed Potential
First, toss the ball at a proper height and impact the ball on the sweet spot of your racket. Remember the intensity of your swing effort (how hard you try to swing the racket) does not necessarily create a fast racket speed. Technique plays an important role. Try swinging with 85% of your maximum effort, to create an optimal racket speed and hit the ball on the sweet spot. You'll also get the bonus of good ball control.
